Are The Scales Making You Fat?
For a lot of people, the scales can feel like a weekly judgement day.
One number goes up… mood ruined.
One number goes down… suddenly it’s a “good week.”
But the truth is this:
The scales are just a tool - not a measure of your worth, progress, or effort.
Your body weight naturally fluctuates every single day depending on:
Water intake
Salt and carbohydrate intake
Hormones
Stress levels
Sleep
Digestion
Training sessions
Time of day
That’s why weighing yourself daily can sometimes mess with your head more than help you.
What I Recommend
Instead of obsessing over daily weigh-ins, aim to weigh yourself once per week under the same conditions each time.
The best time?
✅ First thing in the morning
✅ After going to the toilet
✅ Before food or drink
✅ Similar clothing (or none)
This gives a more realistic picture of your progress over time rather than reacting emotionally to normal daily fluctuations.
Don’t Let One Number Define Your Week
Fat loss isn't always linear.
Your clothes fit better
You feel more confident
Your energy improves
You’re sleeping better
You’re getting stronger
Your routine is finally becoming consistent
That still counts as progress.
Focus On Trends - Not Emotions
Think of the scales like a sat nav.
They help guide you, but they don’t tell the full story.
One weigh-in doesn’t matter.
What matters is the trend over weeks and months.
Consistency beats perfection every time.
A Better Mindset Around The Scales
Try to stop seeing the scales as:
❌ “good” or “bad”
And start seeing them as:
✅ feedback and information
No emotion.
No punishment.
Just data to help you adjust if needed.
Because real results come from building habits you can actually stick to - not chasing perfection every Monday morning.
