How To Overcome Procrastination And Finally Get Started
We’ve all done it.
“I’ll start Monday.”
“I’ll do it tomorrow.”
“I just need to get motivated first.”
Days turn into weeks.
Weeks turn into months.
And before you know it, you’re still thinking about making changes… without actually making them.
The truth is, procrastination usually isn’t laziness.
Most of the time it’s:
overwhelm
fear of failing
trying to be perfect
overthinking everything
not knowing where to start

Simple Thinking
One simple method that can help is something called:
👉 The Eisenhower Matrix.
Ask Yourself 2 Questions:
(1) Is it important?
(2) Is it urgent?
That helps you organise tasks into 4 categories using the 4 D's method:
✅ Do it — important and urgent
📅 Diarise it — important but not urgent
🤝 Delegate it — someone else can help or handle it
❌ Delete it — unnecessary distractions wasting time or energy
Example For Health & Fitness:
✅ DO IT
Workout
Food shop
Meal prep
Drink water
📅 DIARISE IT
Weekly training
Planning meals
Recovery time
Progress check-ins
🤝 DELEGATE IT
Share responsibilities at home
Ask for support/accountability
Use meal plans or structured programs to reduce decision making
❌ DELETE IT
Endless scrolling
Overthinking
Waiting for motivation
Comparing yourself to everyone online
Sometimes healthy living becomes easier when we stop trying to do everything at once and simply focus on what matters most.
A similar approach can also work really well for improving work-life balance - helping you focus more energy on what actually matters instead of constantly feeling overwhelmed by everything at once.
Action Creates Motivation - Not The Other Way Around
This is the part most people get backwards.
People think:
“Once I feel motivated, I’ll start.”
But usually…
motivation comes AFTER taking action.
Once you:
complete a workout
eat better for a few days
start feeling more energised
build momentum
…you naturally feel more motivated to continue.
That’s why breaking things down into smaller, manageable tasks can make such a big difference.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by everything at once, you create small wins, build momentum, and start making progress feel far more achievable.
